The Austin Branch of AAUW has worked on many special projects since it was founded in 1923 — for the community, for the branch, for fundraising for local and national fellowships, and for education (especially for girls).
For details see our branch history at HERstory of the Austin Branch: 1923 – present,
our history of higher education awards to Austin women at History of Grants & Fellowships for Austin, and, in addition, these pages on Austin Branch special priority projects:
- Fellowships for Doctoral Candidates at the University of Texas at Austin
- Mainspring Schools
- Girls in STEM now with Girlstart and Latinitas
A branch survey and a committee have been considering future endeavors for the branch, but our AAUW mission is key: AAUW advances equity for women and girls though advocacy, education, philanthropy, and research. Since 1881, AAUW has “empowered women” and examined and taken positions on the fundamental issues of the day — educational, social, economic, and political.
