Monthly Branch Program, September 2013

Texas KIDS COUNT Director Frances Deviney, Ph.D., spoke at the Austin Branch meeting on Saturday, September 21, 2013, at the LCRA’s beautiful Redbud Center.

At the Center for Public Policy Priorities, Dr. Deviney is responsible for finding the hard facts in the area of child well-being in Texas and applying rigorous analysis to them. As as KIDS COUNT Director, she collects and analyzes state and county-level data and also helps coordinate the center’s family economic security work.

Dr. Deviney provided a brief overview of the work of the CPPP and then went into more detail about the Texas KIDS COUNT initiative which provides data on more than seventy measures of child well-being and is a resource to help create, implement, and encourage good policy and effective services to better the lives of Texas children.
